MILINSHARMA

I build backend and full-stack systems that hold up under real traffic — distributed real-time platforms, peer-to-peer encrypted transport, LLM-backed products and search algorithms tuned for optimal results.

§ 01 / Index

WHAT I
BUILD

Backend systems where state has to stay correct across processes, sockets and users.

Real-time & distributed

Matchmaking queues, room-based sessions and live move sync on Socket.IO, with Redis Pub/Sub keeping game state coherent across server instances so the thing scales sideways instead of up.

Transport & cryptography

WebRTC DataChannels with chunked streaming, flow control, AES-GCM end-to-end encryption and resumable transfers verified by SHA-256 — files that never touch a server.

Search & optimisation

BFS, DFS, IDDFS with pruning and finally Korf's IDA* over three pattern databases, solving any scramble up to 13 moves optimally. Written in C++ with compact state representations.

Product surface

JWT and custom OAuth flows, resource-level authorization, centralized request logging, admin analytics, indexed full-text search and PDF export — the unglamorous parts that decide whether software survives contact with users.

§ 02 / Experience

INTERN
SHIPS

Two engineering internships, both ending with something in production.

May 2026
— Jul 2026

Backend Developer

Enginify
  • Built the backend for a travel application in Node.js, Express and MySQL with modular auth, flights and profile REST APIs.
  • Implemented JWT/bcrypt authentication, Cloudinary image uploads via Multer, schema migrations and a documented Postman API collection.
Dec 2024
— Feb 2025

Full Stack

Neurophi AI
  • Built a multi-tenant MERN application with REST APIs, MongoDB schemas and reusable React components; deployed on a VPS behind Nginx and PM2 with JWT/RBAC authentication.
  • Wrote a JavaScript tracking script for a Shopify (Liquid) store capturing product views, clicks, add-to-cart and wishlist events for user-behaviour analytics.
§ 03 / Work

SELECTED
PROJECTS

Four specimens. Stack, period and source for each.

01

Devlog AI

AI-powered developer journal

  • An AI-assisted journaling platform with four LLM-backed features running through Gemini and Groq, proxied server-side so API keys never reach the client.
  • JWT auth, a custom Google OAuth flow, and resource-level authorization for public and email-restricted entry sharing.
  • Centralized API request logging and an admin analytics dashboard, plus indexed full-text search, Cloudinary uploads and PDF export.
Period
May 2025 — Present
Stack
Next.js · NestJS · PostgreSQL · Gemini · Groq
02

Zugzwang

Distributed real-time chess platform

  • Real-time multiplayer chess with a matchmaking queue, room-based sessions and live move sync over Socket.IO, secured with Clerk auth.
  • Redis Pub/Sub synchronizes game state across server instances, so the platform scales horizontally without splitting a game in half.
  • Users, games and move history persisted in standard chess notation in MongoDB; debounced player search with history and suggestions.
Period
Aug 2025 — Sep 2025
Stack
Next.js · Node.js · Socket.IO · Redis · MongoDB · Clerk
03

P2P File Transfer

Browser-to-browser encrypted transport

  • File transfer over WebRTC DataChannels with chunked streaming, flow control and AES-GCM end-to-end encryption — bytes go peer to peer, never through a server.
  • Resumable transfers with SHA-256 integrity checks, plus live throughput and ETA tracking.
  • Socket.IO for signaling and Zustand for state, organised as a client/server/shared monorepo.
Period
Mar 2026 — Apr 2026
Stack
WebRTC · Socket.IO · Zustand · AES-GCM · SHA-256
04

Coax

Rubik's cube solver — Korf's IDA*

  • A 3×3 cube modelled in C++ with OOP and compact state representations built for fast hashing and comparison.
  • BFS, DFS and IDDFS with pruning as baselines, then Korf's IDA* for optimal solving.
  • Three pattern databases covering 173 million states, solving scrambles up to 13 moves optimally.
Period
Dec 2025 — Jan 2026
Stack
C++ · IDA* · Pattern databases
